Apple Crisp an Autumn Favorite

We had a wonderful lunch served in the {HAYLOFT} this past Sunday!  It was the perfect place to enjoy some homemade soup, salad, cheese n crackers , apple crisp and wonderful conversation.

Stay tuned for how the hayloft has become another favorite place to entertain!

I have been using the same apple crisp recipe for years.  It was a favorite when we operated That Country Place Tea Room.  Crisp Macintosh apples, crunchy oatmeal with brown sugar,  and vanilla ice cream with a sprinkle of cinnamon makes for an easy delicious autumn favorite.

~Recipe for Apple Crisp~

Mix the following together and place in a 9x13 pan

6 chopped apples
1/2 cup white sugar
1 tbsp flour
Sprinkle of cinnamon

Topping:

1 cup oatmeal
1/2 cup margarine
3/4 cup flour
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda

Using a pastry blender, mix the topping ingredients until crumbly
Place on top of the apples and sprinkle with cinnamon

Bake at 350 degrees until top is golden brown and the apples are cooked

Enjoy with ice cream or whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon

Lunch in the hayloft? Do tell! Sounds pretty amazing! And I have printed out your apple crisp recipe, since apples are abounding right now, would be a perfect dessert for these cooler fall days! :)

The hayloft sounds like the perfect place to enjoy apple crisp with friends in autumn! (I'm thinking it likely smells like hay though...and not like cattle.) I'm looking forward to hearing 'the rest of the story'! And now...it's time to make some apple crisp over here.
