Fall Back....last of the Fall decor pictures

This week end the clocks will go back 1 hour.  Like that I will get an extra hour of sleep, but don't like that it will be dark outside earlier.   Just some last bits and pieces of the fall decor that I have around the house.

I am working on the post to show you the reno of the kitchen...I guess the longer fall/winter evenings will help me get caught up in that department!  There used to be a wall where the stair railing is now.  Removing that wall really helped to open up that end of the house.

The ladder on the big wall over the stairwell has helped to fill up that space, but it still looks a little lost on the wall.  Once the fireplace is finished I may do some re arranging with the ladder.  For now I have enjoyed decorating it with fall items.  It was actually Darrell's idea to hang the old chippy ladder...I like it!

The rusty and weathered scale was another one of our finds at the Vintage Market

This was one of the easiest Fall projects ever...
You can read about it here.

Thanks for sharing all your wonderful fall inspired posts over the last few weeks.
I guess Christmas is next!
Yikes!!
Have a great day!

Pull up a chair at the country harvest table...

It was Thanksgiving in Canada a few weeks back and we enjoyed sharing our table with our dear friends, the Andersons.  I enjoy setting a nice table, especially for friends and special occasions.

I purchased the burlap material for the table runner and the striped fabric for the napkins, otherwise I was able to go through the cupboards and put together an autumn inspired table.  I got a great deal on the leftover fabric for the napkins from a roll end at Walmart.  I ran out of time to sew up the edges, but will get to that eventually!  Kinda goes with the rustic theme,... unfinished napkins!

Raffia around the water pitchers and mason jar glasses,
Chargers that have a wood grain,
and candles in hurricane lanterns.

I used a scalloped paper from a collection of autumn papers to set off the plain brown and white plates.
Napkin rings from Winners, always find a good deal there .  Didn't have enough of one kind, so I mixed the owls and the pumpkins.

I wanted to have the candle sitting on something in the hurricane to give it more interest.  I tried filling it part way with popcorn kernels, but didn't really like it.  Solution was to crumple up some brown paper and that worked great!  Grabbed a trio of autumn leaves off of the deck and put them in with the raffia.
Finished!

Hydrangeas from my yard...autumn favorite!

You all would laugh if you could see me as I am typing this post!  I have tennis elbow, I think...so I am sitting at my desk, typing with one finger as I have my left elbow sitting on ice!! in  my big metal mixing bowl!  It seems to be helping!  I have a few things on my to do list before I have to get ready for work, so no time to just sit and ice an elbow,,,, must multi task!!
Have a great week end everyone!  Sure am thankful for the beautiful weather we are getting in Southern Alberta...hope it lasts for a long while yet.

Primitive Farmhouse find from the Vintage Market

A number of weeks back, Darrell and I were able to go to a Vintage White Sale in Somers Montana.  We came across a few things that we brought home!  One of my favorites is  the subject of my "photo shoot" today!  Its a good thing I live in the country and the neighbors can't see what I drag around the yard to get a picture of!  I think the light was perfect in amongst the fallen leaves and the little box I found tucked under some of the Saskatoon bushes.  Perfect for what I needed,,,,

I love this old bowl set and scooped it up right away when I saw it in one of the booths at the sale.   The lady I bought it from said it is an old butter bowl.  Doing a bit of research I have found it referred to as a  dough bowl or butter bowl.   I just love its rustic and worn look!

The butter was churned and then put into the larger bowl and the paddle was used to work the rest of the buttermilk out......I am not sure what the smaller bowl was used for?  I sure am glad they came as a set though cause I think they are perfect together.  Does anyone else have any information on these primitive bowls, when they could date back to, if you have any in your collection?

Great autumn colors..
Of course, I always wonder who was the person who used this item?
How many people were in the family that enjoyed the home made butter?
It was probably a chore done very often and took time and effort...

Can't decide what to fill my lovely bowl with....pumpkins

Apples...

Or a mix of harvest colors..

I am posting this to Farmgirl Friday and will use it for Mosaic Monday next week as well.

Notecard Wednesday over at Vee's

It is time for Notecard Wednesday over at Vee's place.   Hope you will take a look at all the great photos posted to this fun party!  Happy Autumn everyone!

I usually use the Papyrus texture in Picmonkey
Nothing fancy, just gives the photo a little bit of a rustic look.

I posted this earlier this month, but this black cat was a popular one and I thought it
would make a great Autumn greeting card...

I decided to keep a dark brown border around this group of photos and thought
it would tie them altogether as a notecard collection.

Personal Photo Challenge : FOOD and Happy Thanksgiving !!

Did a quick photo shoot with a piece of pumpkin loaf!!  How is that for an exciting subject!  Found out that food is a pretty hard subject to capture! and those magazines make it look so easy.

Hope you enjoy the pumpkin photo shoot and please check out the other pictures posts at the Photo Challenge hosted by Donna.

No secret recipe here though, this moist loaf is just from a box and you can find it at your nearest Costco.  I will also add chocolate chips to this recipe, a quick lunch favorite for work.

Mosaic Monday Post:

We have been doing some landscaping here this weekend, had some good friends visit for the day yesterday and enjoyed a ham supper for the holiday.  Will see if any of my tablescape pictures turned out and will post them later.  Tomorrow my nephew and his cute little family are coming out for brunch and then I am taking some family pictures for them.  The weather has been beautiful here this week end.  So much to be thankful for and God is Good!

Prairie fences make the best backdrops...

It is Friday Fences over at Jan and Jer's  so hope you will pop over there to see what people are postin to the party!  Prairie fences make the best back drops for pictures!!  Alone, or with people in front of them....

Found another fun looking blog hop at Farmgirl Friday , lots of fun country girl things happening over there, so check it out!

I have had a few friends request that I take some photos of them this past year.  One is a beautiful graduate and her bff.....

And the other is my beautiful neighbor and her friend who had to submit some pictures for their application to the  "Amazing Race Canada."  Unfortunately, they didn't make it on to the show, but it was fun taking pictures for them!

Of course, a country fence is the purrrfect place for our black barn cat!
Had some fun in Picmonkey...the pumpkins are an add on, and I texturized the pic to give
the picture an autumn like feel.

Have a great week end everyone!
